Knock You Over Yellow

We are painting the accent walls in our house. And negotiating to have the main areas repainted by the professionals. They did a bang up job but the yellow that looked so innocent and bright on that tiny little paint chip has morphed into a really, really, bright, knock-you-over kind of yellow. So, we're going to have to redo that. The other rooms are really coming along quite nicely, though. This is one of my favorites. It's the girls room, pink on one wall, stripes painted on one wall and white on the other two. (The hope in that is that leaving two walls white will keep you from feeling like you're drowning in Pepto Bismol)

And here is the Yellow Room. The picture doesn't do it justice. I almost fell the first time I walked in. I'm considering a letter to Sherwin Williams thanking them for the subtle humor that I wish we'd picked up on before we painted. The color is called "Butter Up." It has a base ball-y sound, don't you think? That's because every time you walk into the room, it's going to hit your senses like a buttered baseball going 70MPH. I have been working on these projects for 2 days straight, 10 -12 hours a day and I'm feeling really worn down and tired and more than a little discouraged. I'm glad today was a rest day but I have a full sheet of paper filled with To-Do's for tomorrow and none of them even take into consideration any regular household things. Send me your well wishes. I sure need them.

SO STINKIN CUTE!!! I love the girls room! I have been considering re-doing my girls' room and was thinking of stripes...you have made me lean that way even more now! As for the Yellow, I guess the picture doesn't do it justice because I quite like it. It doesn't SHOCK my senses like you described though. All in all, I hope you are well and that you are exhausting yourself too much. I am so happy that things are coming along so quickly for you!

I love love love the girl's room. Those stripes are so dang cute!! But I agree with the wrongness of the yellow... a little overpowering for that much of the house-- one accent wall in that color would be nice, but all of it is a little much. I would try a chocolate brown on one wall and a nice beige, tan or cream on the others. Anyway, it's a thought.
I hear you on the mile-long to do list! good luck with that! I'll be thinking of you while I'm swimming in my laundry & projects too :)

May I echo the love for the girls' room. Love stripes, too lazy to do them myself. The yellow, well, I like it, but maybe it's different in person. Might look cool with black or dark brown furniture and graphic black/dark brown and white curtains. I can see it, but I'm the one with granny smith green in her LR, so....ps, thanks for the compliment. I feel the same way about your blog!

Wow! That is quite the color! I did that once with a pink that I thought would be pretty and then it ended up being SO pink that in the evening when the sun was setting in the windows the entire hallway outside the room glowed pink!

Andrea, they both look beautiful, and it is so hard to think of re doing it after you've put the hours of work into it! I bet those stripes took days, but WOW was it worth it! Way cute! Hang in there. It looks like your home is going to be just beautiful!
